The way I learned to craft learning experiences came, not from theory, but from experimenting and directly observing adult learners in my classrooms. For two decades I got to watch what worked and didn't work for the people walking daily into the learning experiences I would create for them onground and online. Secretly, I wanted their time with me to be the highpoint of their week, and so I stopped thinking of myself as a "teacher" and started thinking of myself as a "host".

And when I'm host, I craft learning experiences that are instantly inviting so people want to come in, try a few things, and leave having learned something useful that they can apply to their jobs or daily lives. As a Learning Experience Designer, I do this through crafting story based scenarios that give people a chance to practice skills and behaviors needed on the job. I also draw upon my skills as a facilitator, a writer, an illustrator, a photographer, a videographer, and a voice actor to craft learning experiences that improve how people perform at work and in the world.
